Korean Spicy Stir Fry Fish Cakes (Eomuk Bokkeum)

Description

A delicious korean side dish! Enjoy cold or hot.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of fish cakes, cut into strips
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (around 50g)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Some bell peppers, thinly sliced (around 50g)
  • Green onions, chopped (as topping)
  • Sesame Seeds (as topping)
  • Any other vegetables as you desire. Thinly sliced carrots are a good option.
  • Sauce:
    • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
    • 1 teaspoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) - add more/less depending on spice level
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat up some oil on medium heat. Fry your onions and garlic for 1 - 2 minutes.
  2. Add your fish cakes and continue to cook for around 3 - 5 minutes (until fish cakes are cooked).
  3. Add your vegetables such as bell peppers / carrots. Cook for around 1 minute or until desired doneness.
  4. Add in your sauce mixture. Continue cooking for around 1 - 2 minutes.
  5. Top with green onions and sesame seeds and enjoy! Enjoy cold as well!
